Let's Talk About Sex: How to Discuss Sexual Wellness in the Therapy Office
This in-person course is designed for licensed mental health providers seeking continuing education credits in the field of sexual health and wellness. The course will cover essential topics related to integrating sexual health into therapeutic practices, including understanding the complexities of sexual health, addressing common issues such as sexual dysfunction, consent, and intimacy challenges, and fostering open and inclusive conversations with clients. The goal is to enhance clinicians' comfort and competence in addressing sexual health concerns, thereby promoting holistic wellness for their clients.
Learning Objectives:
Recognize the intention and impact of discussing sex and intimacy in therapy.
Identify personal attitudes, beliefs and values related to topics about sex and intimacy.
Demonstrate an understanding of common sexual issues and dysfunctions.
Formulate a plan for how to appropriately address concerns about sex and intimacy in therapy and/or when to refer.
Develop therapeutic skills for discussing sexual concerns with clients in a judgment-free and sex-positive way.
